From the early 80s onwards, Olivier Edwards focused on advising companies in the field of cross-border merger & acquisitions. Clients were mostly US, UK and Scandinavian companies.
Amongst his clients, Rémy Cointreau for numerous sales and acquisitions, Allied Domecq for the sale of Château Latour to Artémis, Marie-Brizard, Hédiard, Hartstone Group Plc for the purchase (1992) and the sale (1995) of Well stocking as well as Itokin Inc. and Lapine Inc., two Japanese ready-made manufacturers, for the negotiations of their licenses with French fashion designers.
in the late 80's he took an active part in the creation of Eurodisney SCA where he imposed the SCA form of company as the most pertinent. With his partner Patrick Bonvarlet, he acted as negotiator for Volvo in the negotiations between Renault and Volvo.
Also with Patrick Bonvarlet, he advised Crédit Agricole for the purchase of Banque Indosuez.
In 1994 he acted as French counsel to Business Objects, a French software company, during the course of its IPO on the NASDAQ. Business Objects was the first European software ever to go public on the NASDAQ.
In 2000 he acted as counsel to Rémy Cointreau for the sale of Krug to LVMH for one billion French Francs to follow in 2002 with advising LVMH with respect to their sale of Pommery to Vranken Monopole and, in 2003, to their purchase of a minority interest in Make up Forever.
Yet, since 1994, he has been concentrating on advising venture capital firms as well as start-ups and emerging growth ventures in particular with respect to their exits, external growth or capital market operations.
As counsel for M&A Exit operations, Olivier has advised the sellers (including Goldman Sachs) with respect to the sale of iBazar SA to eBay and SLP Infoware to Gemplus (2000), Soamaï SA to Allen Systems Group (2004), Freever SA to Buongiorno Vitaminic SpA (2005), 1001 Listes to TF1 (2006), EMME to AvanQuest via an amicable takevoer bid (2007) Pertinence SA to Intercim Inc. (2007), Voxmobili to Onmobile (2007), Aldebaran to SoftBank (2012), Make Me Reach to Perion (2015), GLOSE to Medium (2021) and Proximis to Planet (2022).As counsel for M&A external growth operations, Olivier has advised Wavecom with respect to the purchase of Sony Ericsson’s M2M activities (2006) or Zoran for the purchase of Let It Wave (2008) and Inside Contactless (now Verimatrix recently purchased by Rambus) for the purchase or ATMEL's SMS activities (2010).
